Operating system » Beta or RC? Apple slightly modified the handling of the trial versions

With iOS 14.6, Apple includes a few small but useful innovations in handling beta in certain situations. Developers can now easily decide if they want to stay in the beta cycle or switch to regular versions of iOS after installing the release candidate. This may be practical, especially in the current situation.

With the latest updates, little has changed about how Apple handles beta versions of iOS. The invention comes officially with the introduction of iOS 14.6, but it also works with iOS 14.5. The developer who installed the launch candidate on his iPhone is now given the choice of how to download more updates.

The developer can choose to stay in the beta program and then he will get the next beta with more innovations. Alternatively, however, he may switch to regular versions of iOS. This option is based on the fact that the publishing candidate is generally identical to the final version of the update.

iOS 14.5 is coming to all users next week, while the next beta is already available

In such a scenario now, this simplified option would be practical because on the one hand iOS 14.5 will be released next week with lots of innovations for all users, on the other hand it already exists iOS 14.6 Beta1 Available to developers.

If a developer wants to switch to regular iOS versions, the beta profile can be removed after installing the release candidate.
