Frauds via email or instant messaging applications are common. We all know how to use it on a daily basis and clever and ruthless hackers use our weaknesses to attack us. You can discuss this in a previous article Link We talked about how to recognize efforts Fishing Protect us from being deceived.
This time online fraudsters became smarter and changed the way they lured victims. No longer by email, but via the most used social network in the world: WhatsApp.
Hiding behind a well-known brand name, they did all of the shopping on Amazon online. Let’s see what lies behind these hacking attempts.
Be wary of new scams on WhatsApp, it rewards us and feasts on us instead
This scam involves a message coming directly to our WhatsApp number from our sender, Amazon. To mark its thirtieth anniversary, the American company would like to offer us a gift that can be accessed by clicking on the link in the message.
When the page opens, the site will ask you to enter our personal data, including our card, and sign in to our account. The problem is, we will not have any gifts, but of course there will be an (unpleasant) surprise. In fact, by doing so, the bad guys will get into our bank account.
Never believe in fake online generosity
As with online emails, it is important to always keep one thing in mind. No one, if not a lover of it, would want to give us money or bonuses online without us knowing. We should always be wary of clicking messages that do nothing but empty our pockets. The focus on providing our data and above all gives us a gift for the new scam on WhatsApp, instead of turning us into a party.
