Apple brings Mac, iPod and iPhone even closer

The new version of the Apple operating system is called Montessori. With the MacOS 12, the technology team is integrating its hardware – from Macs to MacBooks and iPods to iPhones – even closer.

It was very low before the Apple Developer Conference WWDC 2021 Leaked to the public via the new MacOS version. However, the audience did not expect much from the new. After all, Apple was with its desktop OS macOS 11 Big Sur Provided only a major update last year. However, in the keynote address at the beginning of the WWDC, there were some exciting new features for the MacOS 12, which the Cupertino team named the coastal city of Monterrey, California.

iOS 15 features are coming to the Mac

Most of the features of the new functions Apple introduced iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 – It is also available for MacOS 12 Montreux. This includes FaceTime Share Play, Spatial Sound Spatial Audio and Quick Notes feature. Text recognition for new functions or photos in maps, live text, is part of Magos Montessori.

Apple has put the development of the new operating system version under the goal of “do more”. Craig Federky, Senior Vice President, Software Development, Apple: “MacOS Montessori is packed with features that enable Mac users to do more, connect with friends and family, and work seamlessly with Mac and iPod than ever before.”

Universal Control connects Macs and iPods

Accordingly, Apple has introduced a new functionality for MacOS Universal Control, which can be used to connect MacBooks to iPods and Macs. In addition to videos, photos and games, users can play music from the iPhone on more powerful Mac speakers. Another iOS feature available on the Mac Shortcuts. In the future, users will be able to link command chains together on a Mac. These shortcuts can be used at the computer level.

Safari with new features for MacOS, iOS and iPadOS

Apple has made a number of changes to the Safari browser – some of which are on devices as well. Known extensions from MacOS are now also available for iPhone (iOS) and iPad (iPadOS). Safari has designed Apple’s new tab design for these three operating system versions. The goal is to see more pages as users scroll.

On the one hand, the search field will appear in the future on the currently active tab. The color of the search window matches the page behind it. Additionally, with the launch of newer OS versions, different functions can be called up in each individual tab, no longer on the top-level panel. Another new feature is that different tabs can be organized into groups. Such a group, for example a holiday destination, can then be sent by email including all links.
