News broker Kafka’s version 2.8 has been released by the community and the association. The open source project, further developed under the umbrella of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), offers numerous enhancements to the new release, some new functionality and bug fixes, and is directly linked to Release 2.7. Considering Kafka 3.0, many of the innovations are aimed at targeting Zookiper, according to the Kafka development proposal (KIP-500) Aims to convert a self-managed metadata quorum.
First look at Kafka without ZooKeeper
According to the announcement on the Sangam blog, Kafka 2.8 should give the news broker a first look at how to use it without a zooker. New servers and simple production-consumption utility cases can be set up without it. Takes the internal title @metadata ZooKeeper’s title metadata and configurations. It represents all brokers in the cluster and is managed by a raft quorum. The leader in the quorum now assumes the same role as the cluster holding the controller. As a precautionary measure to introduce new management functions, the Kafka Management Client receives a new Description Cluster API (KIP-700), Which can be used to obtain cluster information from brokers. So far, AdminClient has used the Metadata API, which is primarily for consumer and manufacturer customers. The Describe Cluster API is intended to disconnect the admin client from the metadata API and its format, thus clarifying the way for new management functions – without any hindrance to consumers and producers.
