    The environment of Bergamo

After being expelled from Gingonia, Salvi worsened and emigrated to Milan

The conditions of the two workers deteriorated, and on Friday afternoon the 132,000-volt discharge burned slightly after hitting the forklift truck they were traveling in, «Meyer in the courtyard of Europe, via Berna in the Cingonia de Vertelino.

On Saturday morning, the two were transferred to the large burning center at Nicarada Hospital in Milan and doctors set aside the prognosis: the more serious, in particular, the 41-year-old worker, could use the forklift controls he had with his 39-year-old colleague because of the arm, chest, face and neck.

The forty-one-year-old was initially taken by ambulance to the San Marco de Gingonia polyclinic: however, his medical condition deteriorated, and doctors decided to inject him and transfer him to Nicaragua, which is ideal for this type of treatment. The same thing happened to the 38-year-old colleague, whose condition had worsened, albeit less. The latter was in the basket, but the electric shock of the high voltage struck it directly. The 38-year-old was taken from 118 to a hospital in Treviclio, only to be taken to Milan later.

Thanks to the basket that served as the “Faraday cage” the two effectively kept the current flowing. Carabinieri and AIDS have reconstructed the dynamics of facts: while both were working on tin making in a new section under the construction of the Gingonia company, due to a maneuver of the trolley – operated by one of the two workers – the hand mechanic came too close to the high voltage, which would discharge the current in the moving vehicle. Both workers were always vigilant and were rescued after three hours: in fact many needed to defend that line.
