Nintendo Switch Pro, Nintendo Switch 2, or the new Nintendo Switch console are not on the horizon, Nintendo of America’s Duck Bowser (via) Polygon) About the future of the best-selling console.
When asked about the possibility of an upgraded Nintendo Switch console, Bowser acknowledges that hardware upgrades – that is, its low-res HD screen – have always been thought out and functional, but the current success of Switch and Switch Lite eliminates any urgency to confuse Nintendo’s family settings.
“We always look at technology,” Bowser says. “As far as we know, technology is constantly evolving and we’ll always see: how can it improve and enhance the gaming experience? Whether it’s the current platform, or the future platform, we’ll always look at it.”
However, “the speed of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite is strong in the fourth year, and we hope to change the course of another common console life cycle.”
The best sense of when the switch will receive a significant upgrade is that Bowser calls 2020 “the middle of this life cycle,” suggesting it could be three more years from a Switch Pro or Switch 2.
This does not mean that we will not see any improvements in the current hardware. In 2018, we saw the launch of Nintendo, including an upgraded battery for the newly made consoles, which could almost double user game time in portable mode. We have also looked at sources for various hardware connections. Not with a mid-cycle upgrade on the PS4 Pro’s nerve, but enough to ensure that Nintendo isn’t far behind the modern – we’ll see other functional changes to ensure the switch continues to run for a good few years. Technologies.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow
We have heard rumors that a beefy Nintendo Switch is coming soon by 2021, but this is unlikely to be the case with the current popularity of the console. Why change the console that pushes sales of multi-year-old titles, drawing new players at an even more dangerous rate?
The risk in bringing an update too quickly is that it alienates players with a new price point, specification and designated utility case, which is not compatible with the current pair of switch and switch light consoles.
A Switch Pro will undoubtedly ensure an enhanced experience – be it the rumored 4K resolution, the Minilight display or any of the high-spec processor upgrades we’ve heard of in the last year – but the argument for buying the PS5 digital version, the Nintendo system, will be slightly weaker if it comes close to cost.
At $ 299.99 / £ 249.99 / AU $ 499, we must not forget that the Xbox Series S is the most aggressive targeting of the Nintendo Switch – that is, Nintendo will have to work twice as hard to make sure the pitch console does not start to lose other big spaces. Value systems in the coming years.
