A geomagnetic solar storm is about to hit Earth. Whatever may happen, dangers to Europe
Consequences? They range from mild, to spectacular occurrence of northern lights, to problems on satellites, interference in radio communications and electronic devices, to very serious blackouts. The event has already caused severe short-wave radio blackouts in South America. Polar auroras that are visible to the naked eye even at 50 latitudes are the most likely effects, so either from Europe like Belgium or from Oregon to the United States. Further weak storms may follow each other over the next few days, when successive waves of CME will cross the Earth.
