Polaroid has unveiled a limited-edition Pokémon collection featuring instant cameras, film and accessories, marking the 30th anniversary of the globally recognised entertainment franchise. The range combines familiar Polaroid hardware with designs inspired by characters including Pikachu, Sylveon and Snorlax.

The collection is due to open for pre-orders in the UK, US and Canada on 25 August, ahead of a wider global release expected on 5 October.

Pokémon Designs Come to Polaroid Instant Cameras

The centrepiece of the collection is a trio of limited-edition instant cameras. Rather than introducing new hardware, Polaroid has redesigned existing models with Pokémon-inspired finishes and matching accessories.

Two versions of the compact Polaroid Go Gen 3 are included. One features a bright yellow Pikachu design, while the other adopts a pink-and-blue colour scheme inspired by Sylveon.

The Pikachu and Sylveon versions are priced at $99.99 in the US. UK pricing was not specified in the announcement.

A third model is based on the larger Polaroid Now Gen 3. Priced at $139.99 in the US, it features the familiar red-and-white colours of a standard Poké Ball.

Each camera comes with a matching strap. The Pikachu edition includes a distinctive lightning bolt-shaped strap that reflects the character’s electric-type identity.

Pokémon Instant Film Adds Collectible Photo Frames

Pikachu, Sylveon and Other Characters Feature on Film

Polaroid is also introducing three types of Pokémon-themed instant film, giving the collaboration a more visible presence in the photographs themselves.

Double packs of Polaroid Go Color instant film will be available with either Pikachu or Sylveon designs around the borders of individual photographs. Each double pack is priced at $24.99 in the US.

For the larger Polaroid cameras, the collection includes Color i-Type instant film featuring silhouettes of different Pokémon around the photo frames. This version costs $22.99, although it contains fewer exposures than the Go Color double packs.

The designs mean photographs taken using the special film will retain a clear connection to the anniversary collection even when displayed separately from the cameras.

Polaroid has also redesigned the protective plastic cards that are automatically ejected when users load a fresh film pack. Instead of being purely functional packaging, the cards feature different Pokémon silhouettes, giving fans the option of keeping them as collectibles.

Poké Ball Accessories Complete the Collection

Alongside the cameras and film, Polaroid is releasing several accessories designed primarily for the smaller Go Gen 3 models.

The range includes a Poké Ball-themed camera case priced at $24.99, a matching shoulder strap for $14.99 and a photo album costing $24.99. Each uses the distinctive red-and-white colour scheme associated with the Poké Ball.

The accessories provide a coordinated option for collectors who want the Pokémon theme to extend beyond the camera itself.

Polaroid and Pokémon Tap Into Anniversary Nostalgia

The collaboration arrives during Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year, three decades after the original games made their debut in Japan in 1996. Since then, the franchise has expanded across video games, trading cards, television, films and merchandise, building a substantial following in the UK and internationally.

Camera brands have previously explored Pokémon collaborations. Fujifilm introduced its own Pokémon-themed products five years ago, but Polaroid’s collection extends the concept across cameras, instant film and accessories.

The inclusion of character-themed photo borders is particularly notable, combining the appeal of physical instant photography with collectible Pokémon designs.

Pre-orders for the Polaroid Pokémon collection are scheduled to begin on 25 August in the UK, US and Canada through Polaroid and Pokémon Center channels. A broader international launch is expected on 5 October.

For Pokémon enthusiasts and instant photography fans, the collection offers a nostalgic combination of two recognisable brands, with the emphasis placed on creating and keeping physical memories rather than simply adding character branding to existing camera hardware.
