The smallest Vega rocket of European missiles took off from Coro in French Guiana on Monday evening to launch the Earth observation satellite into orbit of the Pleiades Neo galaxy.

The craft left the ground at 22:47 local (01:47 GMT) at the Kines Space Center for a mission that lasted less than two hours. This is the second launch of the Vega rocket since the beginning of the year for the ArianeSpace, and the 19th from the launcher’s first flight in 2012. It is the second of the four brightest satellites in the Pleiades neo galaxy. Has been in orbit since April 28- as well as four nano-satellites, cubes.

The main cargo is a sophisticated optical satellite made by Airbus Defense and Space Intelligence, Plato’s Neo 4.. It is to be parked in orbit of 625 km. Three of the four cubes are designed for the European Space Agency for scientific missions, the fourth being Unseenlabs, a French startup that specializes in maritime surveillance.
