To unlock new comrades, you must complete the respective quests in the dark forest. After that, the guys in your collection will open for you. Guys are welcome guys, but depending on whether they are a real asset in battle and the chosen character (damage, healing, defense or a combination of these), they can be the perfect addition to your own style game. However, they are not as powerful as other human warriors and there is no way to change them.
