Former Afti state president Andreas Calpitz, who was expelled from Afti, did not apply to run in the September federal election. Calbitz wrote on Facebook on Saturday evening, “I decided after careful consideration not to consider running for the Bundestack.” He accused parts of the federal executive committee of “inability to manage and failed”. Afti is therefore “in a tense and politically weak situation within the party”. He did not want to further promote “existing centrifugal forces”.
AfD Oberspreewald-Lausitz wants to meet Sunday to list direct candidates for the federal election in the 65th constituency. A “democratic Sentenberg” coalition has announced a demonstration against Calpitz’s candidacy. Colbitz has not previously commented publicly on the matter.

In May last year, the federal committee of the AFP withdrew its members from Calbitz because it had concealed previous links to the right-wing extremist environment.
The federal arbitral tribunal upheld the waiver. A member of the “wing” of the Culpits party, it has now been formally dissolved and classified as a right-wing extremist by constitutional protection. (dpa)
