S.D. Paul, e. (Fox 9) – More than 230,000 Minnesotans have downloaded COVIDaware, Application of COVID-19 exposureGovernor Tim Walls said it was launched a week ago.
Two days after the app was launched, it became the third most popular app on the iPhone App Store, according to a press release from the governor’s office. State officials are expecting additional downloads of the app, as Google will send a Bush notification with download information to Android users on Wednesday.
Walls called the application “an important tool” in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Once activated, the app will monitor close contact – within six minutes at least 15 minutes – with other phones with the app. If a person tests positive for COVID-19, they can use the app to send a notification to those in close contact.
The application does not say who triggered the announcement, where the revelation occurred, or the exact time of the revelation, but will give a wider date range for when the revelation occurred. The application does not share your identity with others.
