Some users may not be able to upload files to Google Drive through a web interface Windows 11/10 This is because the PC is more likely to encounter problems downloading the web version of Google Drive. In this article, we will explore some possible solutions to this problem.
Unable to upload files to Google Drive
Recommended fixes for this problem are listed below:
- Disconnect and reconnect your Google Account.
- Restart / Restore Backup and Sync.
- Disable ad blocks for Google Drive.
- Divide your file upload into smaller parts.
- Check the status of Google Drive.
- Use private / incognito window.
- Clear browser data.
- Use another browser.
- Make sure the images are enabled.
- Check your network connection.
- Check for issues with the file.
Let’s look at these adjustment steps in detail.
Before you begin, sign out of your Google Account and try signing in again. If that does not help, you can now proceed with the solutions listed below without a specific sequence.
1]Disconnect and reconnect Google Account
Here you need to disconnect and reconnect your Google Account in the Backup & Sync app.
Here’s how:
- Go on Backup and sync By clicking on its cloud icon in the taskbar notification area.
- Next, click the vertical elliptical (three dots) menu icon> Options > Settings > Disconnect account > OK.
- Once your account is disconnected, click Backup and sync Menu icon again and sign in with your Google Account.
2]Restart / Restore Backup and Sync
Here you can try to restart or reinstall Backup and sync Application.
Here’s how:
- Click the Cloud Backup and Sync icon in the taskbar notification area.
- Click and hold the vertical elliptical menu icon Backup & Exit Sync.
- To open it again, type Backup and sync Select the application from the Windows search and results.
Alternatively, you can completely restore the backup and sync. To uninstall the app, follow these steps:
- Press the Windows key + R. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl And press Enter.
- In the Programs and Features applet, select the application from the list and uninstall it.
- Download the app And reinstall it.
3]Disable ad blockers for Google Drive
Problems with Adware Browser Extensions have been reported, which can sometimes block downloads or block Internet access for all your Google applications.
So, if you have trouble downloading the files, try disabling the Google Drive website in your ad blocker or listing it.
4]Divide your file upload into smaller sections
Google is designed to handle personal files up to 5TB (unless they are Google file formats such as docs or sheets, they can be up to 50MB). So, if you have trouble uploading large folders in Google Drive – upload delay or crash, then explore the contents of the folder, select the files and upload them separately. Google Drive automatically sorts them and manages files better.
5]Check Google Drive status
Head G Suite Status Dashboard Check to see if there are any crashes in Google Drive. If you find that Google Drive has crashed, you should wait for the service to reboot.
6]Use private / incognito window
Here, open a personal window in your browser and connect with Google Drive. Then re-download the file (s) and see if it works.
Your browser stores cookies, cache and other data to make browsing the web easier and faster. However, sometimes this can create browsing problems such as inability to download data files. In this case, you need to clear your Edge or Chrome / Firefox browser data.
You may encounter this problem due to a temporary support issue with your browser or your browser does not support Google Drive. However, the latter is not very likely for popular browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, IE and Edge.
If you are using one of the browsers mentioned above and switching browsers has resolved the download issue, try updating your browser to the latest version. If that does not help, wait for the next version update to fix this issue.
9]Make sure the images are enabled
If for some reason images are disabled in the browser, Google Drive may not work properly. You can use this to edit and view data, but uploading and downloading will not work. See this guide on how to enable / disable images in your browser.
10]Check your network connection
If the files are downloaded and ends up in the middle with a network error, you may encounter this problem due to your network connection. In this case, restarting your router may fix the problem. If that fails, try changing your IP address and disabling the firewall.
Connecting via VPN can also affect the download process, so make sure your VPN is disabled.
If you firmly believe that this is a network error, then resetting your router (see your product wizard) may resolve this issue.
11]Check for issues with the file
Download the three types of files separately here and see if they have been downloaded. If the files are downloaded successfully, there may be a problem with the file you want to download. In this case, try changing the file name and format as much as possible – and making sure there are no characters in the file name (like? /).
Also, if the file is large – over 2GB, use 7-zip to split the file, then download it and see if it works.
