BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) – Spectrum has doubled its initial download speed of 100 to 200 Mbps in 17 markets, including Buffalo.
“Faster 200 Mbps speeds are now available to new Spectrum Internet customers, and the company will automatically increase speeds for current residential customers with new Spectrum Internet packages in these markets in the first quarter of 2021,” one release said.
Other New York markets that increase download speeds are Albany, Rochester, Syracuse and Elmira.
Carl Lushner, Senior Vice President, Internet and Voice Products, Charter Communications, Inc., which provides services under the Spectrum brand, said: “We provide Spectrum Internet customers in these communities. More speed for streaming, long distance work, long distance learning and staying in touch with family and friends – without modem fees, data caps or deals. ”
Spectrum says a small percentage of current customers will need a new modem, which will not charge extra to get faster speeds, and will contact those customers with spectrum details.
