Sabrent HB-TC5P USB-C Hub Trial: Essential, No More, No Less

To test this USB-C hub, we have attached a 4K display, an important X8 external SSD and a Logitech Unify dongle. It is all powered by a 100W USB-C charger, and Hub runs our test system.

Both USB 2.0 ports show read and write speeds close to 40 MB / s, so by the accepted standard. These sockets can be used to connect anything, such as a keyboard, mouse or headset. On the other hand the little surprise about the USB 3.0 port: since the port is capable of reaching 5 Gb / s, we usually get approximately 500 MB / s real. However, the speed achieved by our flagship X8 is slightly higher than the read and write speed of 1000 MB / s, which means that the speed of the USB 3.2 Gen2 port is 10 Gb / s. Surprise, but always good to take!

Connected to our Philips screen in 4K, the update rate does not exceed 30 Hz. 60 Hz is only possible at 1920 x 1080 px. Therefore, switching to higher definition will automatically reduce the update to 30 Hz. Suffice it to say that the use of this center is limited to 1080p screens, the 30 Hz refresh rate is particularly undesirable on high-definition screens.
