Oppo works on photo modules for smartphones. Having already tried the pop-up cameras, it offers a prototype of a retractable camera associated with a large photo sensor for zooming in at very high definition shots.
The announcement was almost silent within Inno Day’s innovations, where Oppo offered several products aimed at the business future. The annual event of the Chinese brand was held Find my, Its first foldable smartphone, but dedicated to image processing on its chip, the Maricilicon X, Or The Air glass, An augmented reality module should be placed in the glasses.
In addition to these products that will be marketed soon or integrated with the next generation of smartphones, Oppo has released a new camera formula for smartphones. The size problem is well known to mobile manufacturers: the larger the sensor used, the more optics there is. And to provide zoom effects, it is necessary to use different optical or variable focal lengths, such as the Sony Xperia 5 III and 1 III, but with smaller sensors.
Large sensors on slim smartphones
At 1.5 / 1.56 inches and 50 megapixels the larger Sony IMX766 sensor and the prototype optimized by Oppo as a prototype model. This, once used, corresponds to the 50mm full-frame equivalent (2x magnification, f / 2.4). What needs to be improved is, according to the brand, bokeh effects, for example, which are useful for portraits, but above all to reduce the size on the smartphone. When the module is folded, the Oppo display device is not 8.26mm thick, although its sensor associated with the telephoto lens is larger than conventional smartphones, but it benefits from ‘optical stabilization’.
It should also be noted that like the “pop-up” cameras used in older generation Oppo smartphones, the volume folds automatically in the event of a crash, thanks to the smartphone’s accelerometer (Renault 2Z Where Renault 10X Zoom): Oppo announces decline in 0.6 seconds. This module, referring to the brand, is finally compatible with splashes and dust resistance, but not with full waterproof forms.
For now, Oppo is pleased to show how its module works, but has not announced its integration into smartphones in 2022. The only hope is that it will not work within the 7 range of the Reno range expected next year.
