Nintendo’s online service for Switch, Wii U and 3DS is currently facing disconnections – preventing players from playing online, blocking access to the Nintendo eShop, and affecting various Nintendo services. For example, the Nintendo Switch online application will no longer launch.
Website with Information on network maintenance and operational status Nintendo writes that all online services have been down since 4:35 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. They also apologize for the failure:

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
All of these are related to the current failures of the Amazon Web Service (AWS). Nintendo Dataminer and Twitter users Oatmealdom Gives a little more insight:

Nintendo uses Amazon Web Services to host Nintendo Switch Online, so they are being affected by the AWS outage in the Eastern US region (us-east-1).

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. Other games, websites and services are also affected. The crashes usually do not last long, although in the present case it is only a few hours ago. When the Nintendo eShop crashed last December we saw several crashes of the Nintendo Switch online service over the years. However, this usually happens at peak times, such as the holiday season, when an unusually large number of people are online at the same time, for example, redeem a voucher issued to them for Christmas.
