How To Download Emails From Gmail

Gmail lets you download your emails in EML format offline, if you want to save the email for offline use or send that email as a link. We will show you how to do this on your desktop because you can not do it on mobile yet.

Things to know when downloading emails from Gmail

The Gmail email you downloaded is stored in EML format. You can not open this format with Gmail, but you can use a desktop email client such as Outlook or Windows Mail to open these email files.

You can attach this downloaded EML file to the new emails you create in your favorite email client. We will also tell you how to do this in the guide below.
Save an email from Gmail to your computer

To begin the email download process, first open your favorite web browser on your computer and launch Gmail. Next, sign in with your account on the site.

In Gmail, click the email you want to download. When the email opens, click on the three dots in the upper right corner.

Select the three dots in the upper right corner.

In the three-point menu, click “Download Message”.

Select “Download Message” from the menu.

You will see a standard window for backing up your computer. Select the folder where you want to save your message here. If desired, enter a name for your email file in the “File Name” field.

Click “Save” to save your message.

Right-click on the email and select Open> Mail.
