Windows 11 has been officially released, and it brings compatibility with new features, new interface or Android applications. The new Windows is closer to the gaming world with Xbox integration with Windows 11. Here’s what you need to know to use the new version before the official release of Windows.
Install Windows 11 before releasing with Windows Insider
The leaked version of Windows 11 was released on the Internet earlier this month, but Microsoft quickly cracked down on ISO-available sites.
To install the official version of Windows 11 before the official release in the fall of 2021, you need to be part of the Windows Insider program just like the Xbox Insider.
- Go Official page
- Click the “Subscribe” button
- Follow the different steps
Once the registration for the Windows Insider program is complete, you will have to wait patiently as the pre-release of Windows 11 will be available through Microsoft next week. Expoxygen will follow the deployment of the new OS to let you know.
Note that an Internet connection and a Microsoft account are now required to configure the new operating system, if we believe the mid-June version was leaked.
Please note, we recommend installing Windows 11 on a computer that does not require your main computer. The preview version of Windows 11 may contain errors and inconsistencies.
Windows 11 will be available this fall and Windows 10 owners will be offered a free update.
Check the compatibility of your computer to use Windows 11
Not all PCs are compatible with Windows 11. Here are the minimum specifications for using Windows 11 on a computer.
- Processor : 1 GHz or higher, on a compatible 64-bit processor with at least 2 or more cores or on a single chip (SoC) system
- Memory : 4 Go RAM
- Storage : Storage device of 64 GB or more
- Graphic card : DirectX 12 / WDDM 2.x compatible graphics
- Screen : Over 9 inches with HD resolution (720p)
- Internet connection : Windows 11 Home Configuration requires a Microsoft account and Internet connection
To test if your PC is compatible with Windows 11, you can download the app PC health test.
Note that some users have noticed that the tool is incompatible with their computer. Windows 11 actually requires a DPM 2.0 chip to work, which is not the case on all computers, especially older computers.
