The Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou 13 was launched with three astronauts for the first six months of its journey. Launched from the Jiguan base in the Kobe Desert, the Long March 2F rocket spacecraft was brought into orbit. According to Chinese media, the docking to the space station in the radial port was successful.
Shenzhou 13 is the fifth of 11 missions planned between 2021 and 2022, designed to merge the Tiangang space station, which currently has two cargo spacecraft attached (last arrived a month ago) for new astronauts). During this month 3 team members will be tasked with testing all the technologies for the assembly and expansion of the entire Chinese space station. In 92 days, the astronauts will also be engaged in extra-vehicle activities outside, and Wang was the first Chinese woman to undertake an ‘space walk’.
During a pre-launch press conference, Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Agency, explained that the Xiangsho 13 spacecraft would be the last in the “technical demonstration phase” of the Tiankang space station. If successful, we will move on to the next stage: the introduction of the new Ventian and Mention modules, which will be coordinated in 2022 by the next Chinese team to come with Shenzhou 14. Once the three blocks are connected together, the Tiangang station will have a permanent mass of about 66 tons, about one-sixth the weight of the International Space Station.
