Apple is releasing an emergency update for older iPhones and iPods

Apple is committed to providing security updates for older iPhones and iPods. The company will continue to support iOS 14 when iOS 15 is released, and will allow older versions to be more secure.

If you have an iPhone or iPad that still runs iOS 12 – because this is the last version of your device – Apple has released an emergency update, which you should download and install soon.

Why?

Since there are three security fixes in this update, the two security vulnerabilities they fix can be “seriously exploited.” In other words, update your iPhone or iPod to avoid the risk of cyber attacks.

iOS 12.5.4 is available for the following devices:

  • IPhone 5S
  • IPhone 6
  • IPhone 6 Plus
  • IPod Air
  • IPod Mini 2
  • IPod Mini3
  • IPod Touch (6e Generation)

To check which version your device is using, go to Settings> General> Software Update. You will see which version your iPhone or iPad is using and any updates.

Note that this update will not be available on your device if you are running iOS 12 but the device is compatible with later versions. You need to upgrade to the latest version of iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.

Many high security issues have plagued iPhones and iPods in recent months. If you are still hesitant to install updates, know that this is the best protection against cyber attacks.

If you do not want to install updates, iOS 12 and later will do it for you. For that, go ahead Settings> General> Software Update> Automatic Updates, Then activate Download iOS updates And Install iOS updates.
