Facebook, through its founder Mark Zuckerberg, has announced a major change to its homepage. Today’s News Feed will be removed starting next week.
Is it TikTok’s fault? To face other giants of social networks such as Snapchat, Tik-Tog or YouTube, Facebook needs to speed up with new applications and is going to deeply modify its interface.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the big change at a time when the world’s most popular social network, with 2.8 billion accounts, is struggling to attract new users, especially among young people who prefer other platforms.
Fewer posts from friends are visible
Thanks to artificial intelligence, as in Tik-Tog, it will present recommendations on the home page instead of the page or group publications you are subscribed to.
To simplify this, posts from friends, pages, events… should be pushed to a new tab: “Posts thread”. This will allow you to view all the releases of your subscriptions, in chronological order. The update is expected to roll out globally within the next week. Meta This July 21st.
With this change, Facebook is emphasizing video and content recommendations through “machine learning,” software that continuously learns from your apps on the platform to deliver relevant content.
So Meta is trying to emulate it rather than create it, which has proven profitable in the past by integrating Stories into Instagram during Snapchat’s success. It remains to be seen whether Facebook will now change the article and become the new Tik-Tok.
