Developers need to show their credentials as soon as possible to gain the trust of Google and Chrome users. Mountain View has announced that it will soon be setting up a badge rating system for third-party developers of Chrome extensions. They allow users to identify extensions with a reputation installed at a glance.
The first badge brought by Google ” Featured (Probably translated as ” Featured “In French). It will be used for extensions that comply with standards and best practices in terms of security, confidentiality, design and user experience. Google already plans to use this badge for extensions that meet the required criteria. However, developers must meet all prerequisites from April 20, 2022. If you think, you can submit their extension to get this badge.

Mountain View Company plans a second badge. Established (Probably translated as ” Verified ”), Which will automatically apply to developers who have a verified account that never violates Google’s developer project rules.
The display of these badges in the extensions provided in the Chrome Web Store is intended to enhance the trust that users have in developers of browser extensions. If this classification definitely has a positive impact on developers, it will allow users to get the assurance that they are only using trusted extensions after all. In recent months, both Google and Microsoft have had to clean up their respective extension stores, and some hackers have not hesitated to use browser extensions to do their malicious work.
