The legislature has mandated a green certificate (also known as a “green pass”) for all access to certain services, such as restaurants, bars and museums, to prevent an increase in infections, especially in closed environments. This duty, which was introduced last summer, has been extended to schools, universities and transportation with effect from 1 September 2021.
But that’s not all: In light of the decline in smartworking, the duty to show a green pass has also been introduced in the work world. In particular, the Order-Law n. 127/2021 Introduced the required possession of a green certificate valid from 15 October to 31 December ending the state of emergency to access all workplaces. These days, however, considering the extension of the state of emergency, it seems that the government wants to extend this deadline to mid-2022.
How Green Pass Control works in the company
The Green Pass, issued by the Ministry of Health and verifiable by a specific QR code, alternatively certifies:
Successful vaccination against SARS-CoV-2;

Risks and Penalties for Failure to Check the Green Pass
Order-Law n. 127/2021 imposes sanctions not only on workers who do not show a valid green pass, but also on employers who fail to carry out appropriate checks and verifications.
