On Thursday afternoon, October 28th, users encountered problems connecting to our operating system. This immediately became our priority. Teams began working around the clock to find the source of the problem and bring things back to normal.
This was a particularly difficult interruption A combination of many factors. A central structure of our infrastructure was high, due A subtle error in our backend service communications during excessive uploads. This is not due to an increase in external traffic or a specific situation. Instead, the crash was caused by an increase in the number of servers in our datacenters. As a result, most Roblox services are unable to communicate and distribute data effectively.
Due to the difficulty in finding the real bug, the recovery took longer than any of us wanted. After successfully identifying this root cause, we were able to solve the problem by performing performance adjustment, reconfiguration and scaling of some data “loads”. The service was able to fully recover from this afternoon.
We will publish the “Final Report” with more details once our analysis is complete, With the steps we take to avoid similar problems in the future. Also, following this interruption, We will implement a policy to economically protect the community of our creators. We will post more details about this soon.
