No newer (digital) 3DS & Wii U games from April 2022 • Nintendo Connect

There are not much discounts on the Wii U and 3DS software on my Nintendo, Netflix on the Wii U and 3DS is off and despite the Nintendo Switch, the online services of the Nintendo 3DS family remain active. Now, however, rumors are circulating that developers will only be able to submit their new games by next year’s deadline.

No new games on Nintendo EShop?

At least the golden days of both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. systems are long gone, and despite the fact that older systems in the past actually had isolated games, Nintendo seems to be pulling the plug soon. At least according to the rumor of the YouTube channel IGS – Impact Sports Station Is currently widespread. An alleged email from a developer suggests this!

Nintendo asks in an email to submit games for the Wii U and 3DS eShop at the end of the current fiscal year. After the deadline, no more games will be accepted on the Nintendo EShop, but all will be online and updates are still possible.

We would like to inform you that we have decided to discontinue submissions for the new Nintendo 3DS / Wii U titles for the eShop release by the end of the current fiscal year (effective April 1, 2022). These new titles must be approved within 3 months after the submission deadline.
The Nintendo 3DS / Wii U eShops will be active and will continue until patch submission is announced.

Keep this deadline in mind in your planning for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U digital releases.

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support over the years on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles.

Sincerely,

Europe’s Nintendo – European Publisher Business

It’s not clear what the truth of this rumor is at the moment, but don’t worry about your digital purchases now. Anyway, this does not seem strange, because most developers are already focused on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo wants to force players to buy the current console. No official statement yet, but we will wait for you – we promise!
