Intel Core i9-12900K with DDR5-8000 released, ES2 running at 4.5 GHz

From Valentine Chatler
More leaks have surfaced on the Internet about Intel’s upcoming Alderlack processors. Some CPU-Z screen shots show a Core i9-12900K on a gigabyte Z690 Aorus Tachyon, with the DDR5 band closed above 8,000 MHz. In addition, Twitter user yuuki_ans has purchased one of the ES2 models from China. According to him, the boost clock of the pre-production model is 4.50 GHz.

A month before the release of Intel’s Alter Lake processors, there are increasing rumors that the data and capabilities of the final products will be increasingly revealed. An example of this is some CPU-Z screen shots recently released by Twitter user hw_reveal. These show the pre-production model core of the i9-12900K on the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Tachyon, which clocks in with a maximum CPU of 5.10 GHz.

DDR5-8000 and ES2 with 4.5 GHz

More interesting memory than CPU clock rate in screen shots. Alter Lake should support both DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800 by default, but overclocking is obviously quite possible. According to the screen shots, it is built on a RAM bar system, which is overlocked up to 4,000 MHz, thus equivalent to a DTR 5-8000. The times (CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC-CR) are given as 50-50-50-100-150.

It is currently difficult to say whether screen shots are real and only possible with such strong overclocking individual modules or whether the DTR5 bars and Alder Lack memory controller are often capable of such clock rates. Potential performance benefits cannot be estimated without accurate criterion analysis. You will find out more here only after the release of the Alder Lake CPUs.

Aside from the Hw_reveal rumor, there is also an update from China today: Twitter user @yuuki_ans seems to have bought the ES2 of Intel Core i9-12900K there. Related images show the CPU from multiple pages, and Yuki has also released the clock rates of the pre-production model. Accordingly, the CPU with QX7H identification number ranged from 3.50 to 4.50 GHz. As can be seen from the Hw_reveal system, among other things, the final version of the Core i9-12900K is offered with a higher clock rate.
