The former federal office for defending the constitution is behind Hans-George Massen (CDU), SPD candidate and biathlon Olympic champion Frank Ulrich, after counting half of the electoral districts in the South Thuringian constituency. After counting 406 out of a total of 418 constituencies, Ulrich received 33.6 percent of the vote.

At the time, Massen was in a face-to-face race with Afti candidate Jர்கrgen Trudeau for second place: CDU politician with 22.3 percent and Trudeau with 21.4 percent.
No such volume has seen so much excitement in recent months. Masen, the controversial former constitutional defense leader, saw him as his staircase in the Bundestack. On the other hand, everyone who wanted to stop the massacre relied on Frank Ulrich.
During the GDR era, he won nine world championships and four Olympic medals as a biathlete. There is even a street named after him in his hometown. The local hero-fight against Western imports may also be based on this formula.
Mason’s candidacy came only because the real CDU direct candidate, Mark Hoptman, resigned over the mask issue. Local Christian Democrats believed the AfD could moderately win over voters. However, the former constitutional defense official repeated the negative headlines and was an embarrassing standard topic for CDU boss Armin Lashett.
In his campaign appearances, Massen relied on populism. He cursed the “gender language”, demanded the relocation of the local initial reception facility for refugees and announced that he would “torpedo” an alliance with the Greens when he entered the Bundestack.
Ulrich, who was born in Thuringia and was not particularly interested in speaking, sought primarily to establish personal contact with the people during the election campaign. In the end, even the Greens suggested to their supporters to vote for “local” because he is known locally. (With DPA)
