No big news as far as photo is concerned, Samsung is reusing the rear camera block already found on the Galaxy Z fold. So we are dealing with three modules including a wide angle (f / 1.8) and an ultra wide-angle (f). / 2.2) and a telephoto lens (f / 2.4), all connected to 12-megapixel sensors. The 108-megapixel isocell sensor found on the Galaxy S21 Ultra is exclusive to that.
Volume Primary: 12 Mpx, f / 1,8, eq. 26 mm
The 12-megapixel flagship that Samsung has chosen for its Galaxy Z Fold 3 is similar to the Z-Fold 2 released last year. So it is fitted with an optical equivalent of 26mm, aperture of aperture and f / 1.8. We chose to compare it to the smartphone released this year, so we chose the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which also offers 12 megapixel shots, however Pixel-pinning. The Z Fold 3 should not be ashamed of daylight, although the S21 Ultra offers a much less detailed view, albeit a little less. The colors are very saturated, which is eye-catching, even if it disappoints the cleaners: on the software processing side, Samsung is not lagging behind.
At night, we see the same gentle trend on both smartphones. The Galaxy Z Flap 3 has warmer, less natural colors, but with a little more digital noise.
Volume Ultra Grand-Angle: 12 Mpx, f / 2,2, eq. 12 mm
The ultra wide angle of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is able to reproduce the finest details, which is due to the tendency to emphasize the definitions. Compared to photos taken from a wide angle, the colorization is identical. Nevertheless, this module is difficult to master in the exhibition, illustrated by the playing cards.
When used at night, the business becomes harder at a much wider angle. This is the result of the pronunciation of the definitions: it leads to a softening of an important detail so that in the map of our scenario, the difference between land and sea disappears.
Volume téléobjectif 2x: 12 Mpx, f / 2,4, eq. 52 mm
The Galaxy S21 Ultra 3x Zoom has been chosen to compare the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with another smartphone that zooms in 2x. However, the Oppo Find X3 Pro selected here takes pictures at 13 megapixels, 12 MPx for our folding smartphone.
During the day, good surprise. Softening is present, but the treatment is powered by Samsung, which results in the accentuation of the definitions, making it possible to get close-up images taken at wide-angle. Smaller fonts are more readable than the Oppo smartphone.
Both smartphones are not really successful at night, but the Samsung model is a success. The smoothing that can be seen in our test scenario is minimal, and here again, the contrast pro helps to fully recover the details that make it readable. However, the clich is hard to exploit.
Front module, portrait and video mode
Samsung has not revised its formula for video: like the Galaxy Z Flip 2, the Z Flip 3 can shoot at 4k at 60 fps, with 8K remaining reserved for the S21. Note that you can shoot in HDR10 +, enabling the option.
Selfies are a pin question. It is better to avoid using the camera under the inner screen of the smartphone and move towards one of the two available solutions. This allows you to take selfies at the right quality at 10 megapixels, the volume is placed in the sound punch. Cover display. Those who are very motivated can open the smartphone and click on the small icon at the top right of the screen, then join the camera Cover display, Then it turns on the monitors: you have a larger aperture (f / 1.8 vs f / 2.2 vs “selfie” camera) and better overall quality.
