How do you know if the email you received is from a business? Using the official logo is responsive to Google. This means a new authentication profile, called BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identity).
Through this process, a company or a brand can replace the common avatar used in Gmail with their own logo. The image below shows the before / after example with Bank of America, one of Google’s partners in introducing this new feature.

To do this, the company must use the DMARC (Domain Based Message Authorization, Reporting and Confirmation) authentication protocol, which protects domain name owners from potential frustration.
In addition, the logo must be verified by a competent authority such as the Entrust Datacard or Digigert. This authority then issues a Certificate of Authenticity, also known as the Verified Mark Certificate (VMC).

Finally, the email service must comply with the BIMI specification. It is currently available on MailChimp, SendGrid, Valimail, Fastmail, Proofpoint, Verizon Media. The arrival of Google will undoubtedly give a boost to this authentication process and further complicate the work of spammers and other kings of phishing.
