Apparently an early stage Windows 11 Leaked, confirms the name and new look, and users have already found a way to re-enable the classic start menu and move the icons in the taskbar to the left.
The Windows community was delighted when the version was leaked, mainly because it confirms the new look and name. Originally, these were expected to be features of the “Sun Fence” update for Windows 10, which will appear later this year. However, now it seems to be a minor update, while six years after the release of Windows 10, major changes are coming with Windows 11.
In Windows 11, the Start menu has been edited and is now in the middle of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, which many users may not want.
Fortunately, the community found a way to bring back the classic start menu
What is Windows 11?
Six years after the release of Windows 10, Microsoft is preparing to announce Windows 11. After two major updates a year, Microsoft seems ready to say goodbye to Windows 10 after updating various applications and changing the user interface.
The new interface of the leaked version is reminiscent of the recently discontinued Windows 10X with its centralized start menu and icons and rounded corners.
We continue to assume that Windows 11 will be delivered on June 24th and we will follow it very carefully.
How to change the start menu
While many are curious about the new look, others are not happy about the new location of the start menu. Fortunately, a way was found to move it to its old place.
- Press and hold Win + R on your keyboard
- When the “Run” window appears, enter “regedit” and confirm with Enter
- Go to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows Current Version Explorer Advanced” (copy the line without quotation marks and paste it into the repository)
- Create a new DWORD (32-bit) by right-clicking on it using the drop-down menu
- Name it “Start_ShowClassicMode”
- Set the value to 1
- Restart your computer
Once you log in to Windows 11 again, you will be greeted by the familiar Start menu at its default level, which has been around for almost 30 years.
