The new Android features do not require the classic Android update because Google can integrate a lot into the operating system via Google Play. In the summer, Google introduces six new features related to earthquakes, messaging, emoji, voice control, passwords and Android Auto.

    Early warning system for earthquakes

Most smartphones have an accelerometer that Google can use to turn the device into a small seismic map, thus setting a global early warning system for earthquakes. First available in California and later in Oregon and Washington, this feature was expanded to New Zealand and Greece in April. Today, the “Android Earthquake Warning System” is being launched in Turkey, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. While developing this feature, Google prioritizes countries with high earthquake risk, but wants to extend this service to more and more regions in the coming years.

    Mark messages as favorites

A new feature for Google’s own messaging app is a favorite functionality that allows you to highlight particularly important messages in the conversation without having to scroll through a long list of messages. All messages marked with a star can be called in their new section. Google wants to gradually release this feature in the coming weeks.

    Contextual suggestions from Emoji Kitchen

The Gboard Keyboard Emoji Kitchen, which can be used to create your own creations with over 14,000 combinations from many different emojis introduced last December, receives eco-related suggestions with the keyboard’s current beta as soon as you type a message. . This feature will initially be offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese languages on smartphones with Android 6.0 and newer.

    Control additional applications by voice

Google Voice Control now supports more applications or specific tasks within these new applications. For example, you can now use Google Assistant to tell you that invoices must be paid within the Capital One application. Another new feature is the kilometer query that traveled within Strava. Which commands can be selected for which applications?Hey Google, shortcuts“Inquiry.

Voice access gets a fabric function

The voice control of the entire smartphone developed for people with motor disabilities has also been expanded. A feature called “Voice Access” can now be set so that it only works (actively) when viewed directly from the smartphone. Additionally, the sound input of passwords has been modified so that commands such as “uppercase, password” or “dollar sign” are now correctly recognized and replaced with “$” instead of the word “dollar sign”.

Manual Dark Mode for Android Auto

Android Auto also gets the update, which now allows you to configure the launcher directly on the smartphone. Additionally, Dark Mode can now be operated manually regardless of daylight hours. New tabs for media applications, the “Back to Start” and the “A to Z” button on the scroll bar are intended to facilitate the operation of the car. Charging, parking and navigation apps designed specifically for e-cars are now available on Android Auto. In the messaging area, you can now launch applications like WhatsApp directly from the launcher. New Android Auto features are offered for smartphones from Android 6.0 onwards.
