After four failed attempts, the American company SpaceX’s Starship rocket successfully landed for the first time after a prototype test flight. Shortly after landing, the video broadcast showed flames at the base of the SN-15 rocket, which the SpaceX commentator described as not unusual. SN-15 stands for “Serial Number 15” – the previous four models exploded, in some amazing way, on or after landing.
The flames were quickly extinguished after touching the bottom. The purpose of the tests was the smooth vertical landing of the 50-meter-long rocket. For test flights, SpaceX uses desert-like terrain in the US state of Texas.
“Starship Landing Nominal”, Elon Musk, the company’s boss, tweeted Wednesday evening after successful landing (local time). “We’re down, the starship has landed,” the New York Times quoted SpaceX engineer John Insprooker as saying.
Billionaire Musk has set himself the goal of flying to other planets one day by starship. NASA has recently hired a private company to develop the first commercial lunar landing device to take two astronauts to Earth’s satellite. The value of the order is 89 2.89 billion.

According to media reports, the lunar mission, which could take place in 2024, is considered to be the first step in the journey of humans to Mars. The United States was the only country to bring twelve astronauts to Earth’s satellite with the Apollo missions between 1969 and 1972. (AFP, dpa)
