Following a fire at a refugee shelter in Berlin, Friedena’s former town hall in Preslaver Platz / Nightstrass is about to house about 128 residents in another shelter. To protect them from the cold, people were initially maintained on buses by the German Red Cross, according to a fire department spokesman on Monday evening.
Three people had to be treated for exposure to smoke gas, and one was taken to hospital. The fire brigade previously assessed the situation around the shelter as chaotic and announced on Twitter that it was approaching an action under the key word “mass accident”.
