The engine is a 4-cylinder long V65 °, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder. However, the engine sees an increase in its displacement, which goes from the previous 1,077 cc to the current 1,099 cc. The exhaust system is also new. Despite the Euro 5 synchronization, the new RSV4 is allowed to maintain a maximum power of 217 hp (similar to the previous RSV 4 1100 factory), and they are said to have the highest torque of the assembly (data not released).
In terms of electronics, we see a new Marelli 11MP control unit and a new six-axis switching platform, both of which are more powerful than in the past. Electronic management is improved with full ride-by-wire throttle control and refines the operating logic of the APRC. The set of electronic controls has been completed with the introduction of multilevel control of the engine brake and the available ride modes are now six, three on the track (two of which are customizable) and three on the road (one of which is customizable).
