It’s a beautiful ballet and let’s face it, it’s a little annoying. On Tuesday, December 29, Boston Dynamics released a new video showing the incredible power of its robots. We see human-shaped “Atlas” machines running towards the sound of a rock quality (Do you love me des Contours) and take some small steps worthy of your best nightclub shows. The four-spot “Spot Mini” that opened its doors two years ago and surprised its world is in the game just like a two-wheeled machine “on the handle”.
These robots are specially fittedGyroscopic sensors and software that adjusts the movements in real time to distribute the weight of the machine and prevent it from falling. This new video shows significant progress made by robot science in recent years, especially in managing the balance of machines, the fluidity and flexibility of their movements. In comparison, going back to the last videos is interesting. Two years ago, the dog “Atlas” was restricted to more limited movements than it is today.
Founded in 1992, the company Boston Dynamics Is Google bought it in 2013 and then sold it to Japanese holding company Softbank in 2017, selling 80% of its stake to Hyundai Motors this month. Its engineers regularly publish pictures of their work, with increasingly surprising results. In the future, there is this brutal content to help humans in classic missions.
