Review: Pokemon masks, from original stitched Pokemon shirts

Review: Pokemon masks, from original stitched Pokemon shirts

The Pokemon shirts provided by the original Stitch are busy adding new products and designs to its customizable collection – even for its upcoming 2nd anniversary! There were Pokemon masks on the waves of recent announcements. Initially tested as a “free gift” at Pokemon Center stores in Japan, it was upgraded to a full – time product offered online.

I wrote last month Release of Pokemon Masks Sent one to review by original sewing. As a Pokemon fan, I was very excited to see the product in person (as well as which of the 151 Pokemon designs I get is amazing – snorlock with sleepless Picasso!), But I wanted to see how much it would cost compared to other licensed masks. Size varies across the industry – one size fits everyone (well, Fits very well), X-Small to X-Large, Baby Sizes, Adult Sizes – Finding the right fit is very annoying (buy your own or buy masks outside). Having everything from medium to X-large, this is a collection of reusable masks that my family has definitely proven.

That’s why when I first saw that Pokemon masks were only available in two sizes (small and medium), I was disappointed. Fortunately, the medium size mask I sent was a little different thanks to those feelings – elastic.

Mass-marketed reusable masks have fabric straps that do not give too much or stretch, they cause asa fort charcoal or something else must be used to extend the fit (such as string, fabric, plastic extension). The elastic will degrade over time (this is how the material works, there is no way to avoid it), this is an easy solution and you don’t have to worry for months if not one or two years. It all depends on how many times you wear them and then how you wash and handle them. Note: I recommend extending the mesh laundry bag made for washing machines to prevent it from getting caught in other clothes.

As for the fabric and many options, it is built with a layer of 100% cotton (Pokemon pattern) and breathable mesh fabric (available in 4 colors). One great thing about this approach is that these masks are built with fabric scraps from orders of Pokmon shirts. Hooray for stability! However, this means that the mask is light. Depending on the method you take and the mesh color combo, you can change a white mask to pink (as shown in the tweet below).

These masks should be used as a fashion item, but not all masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (this is stated on the original sewing site and not all masks can be returned and / or exchanged). It is as comfortable and light as a fashion mask, and if you want to use it as a medical mask, I recommend wearing it over a disposable mask approved by the World Health Organization or your local health authority.

Can I buy a Pokemon mask? Yes, and only a few. I know the price point is high compared to the most over-the-counter masks on the market, but this is the best fitting mask from my own set and a good alternative to the handmade ones that have needed space for the past eight months. By combining proper care and disposal with clinically approved masks, I can see them being used in the fight against colds in 2021 and beyond. Now find out which of the 151 designs make up my top 5 spots!

Pokemon masks $ 18 each (before tax and shipping) are ordered and spent. It costs $ 15 to ship 1 to 4 masks, but if you buy 5+ or combine them with other products (bandanas or at least 2 shirts) you will qualify for free shipping. Current shipping time (according to this post) is 6 weeks and masks are non-refundable.

Note: The snorlock mask was shipped free of charge with the original stitching.
