The reference number is a 12-digit number issued by UIDAI, which acts as the address and identification source. Aadhar card is used for identification in banks, telecommunications companies, public distribution system, income tax etc.
Recently, UIDAI introduced the all new Aadhar PVC card, which looks durable, attractive and has the latest security features. Its security features include Hologram, Gillose Pattern, Ghost Image & Microtext.
There are two main ways to download an Aadhaar card. One by using the registration number and the other by using the reference number. UIDAI has introduced a new feature for Aadhaar cardholders, which allows them to download the Aadhaar card online through UIDAI’s official website with face recognition.
Here is how to download Aadhar card with face recognition:
Log in to the UIDAI website.
– Click on the ‘Get Aadhar Card’ option.
– You need to find the option for face recognition under the Aadhaar card section.
Before selecting the ‘Face Recognition’ option, you must enter your mobile number and captcha.
-Now you need to verify your face through the authentication process.
– UIDAI will automatically click on your image after clicking OK.
-After clicking and verifying your photo, you can successfully download your Aadhar card.

Paper based laminated letter with secure QR code is sent to the resident free of charge by ordinary mail.
eAadhaar
eAadhaar is the electronic form of Aadhaar, signed by UIDAI and containing QR code for offline verification along with release date and download date. Residents can easily download Eadar or Masked Eadar from UIDAI’s official website using the registered mobile number.
mAadhaar
mAadhaar is a digital form of Aadhaar that can be installed on a mobile device.
Adar PVC card
The latest form of Aadhar introduced by UIDAI is Aadhar PVC Card. You can order online for a nominal fee ₹50.
