German enterprise software vendor software AG has revealed that data was downloaded from the PCs of its servers and employees following a malware attack.
“On October 5, 2020, Software AG revealed that it was affected by a malware attack,” the company said in a statement on October 8. “Malware is not yet fully contained, and software AG’s systems are vulnerable to attack.
“Today, Software AG received the first evidence that data had been downloaded from Software AG’s servers and employees’ notebooks.
“Customers do not yet have instructions for services, including cloud-based services. The company is constantly improving its operations and internal processes.
The company said it was investigating the incident further and was doing everything in its power to contain the data leak and address the ongoing disruption to its internal systems.
In particular, it said it was working to restart its internal systems, which had been shut down for security reasons, as soon as possible.
The seller revealed on October 5 that its IT infrastructure has been affected by the malware attack since the evening of 3 October 2020.
Although the services to its customers, including cloud-based services, are not affected, Software AG chooses to shut down its internal systems in a controlled manner, in accordance with the company’s internal security regulations.
“The company is in the process of restoring its systems and data to resume regular operation. However, Helpdesk services and internal communications at Software AG are currently being affected,” Software AG revealed on October 5.
“Software AG upgrades its temporary helpdesk system if necessary to secure its service levels. Software AG does not know which customer information will be accessed by the malware attack.
“Software AG is investigating the incident further and is doing everything in its power to resolve the resulting interruption as soon as possible,” the company said.
