It’s too busy for tech releases even without the iPhone 12, and there’s still a lot to come: Amazon has revealed that it will be hosting a hardware launch event this Thursday, September 24th.
We do not know much about what will be revealed now, but the call Sent to media Mentions “Devices and Services”, so it seems we can hear some Alexa news and treatment for some new gadgets.
This event is not known to be broadcast live to the general public, but it is scheduled to start at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST (i.e. if you are in Australia on September 3, September 25), so mark your calendars.
At the equivalent Amazon event in 2019, we saw the release of 14 new devices ranging from the updated Amazon Echo speaker to the smart stove. It is quite possible that we will be in line for several announcements at this time and of course we will report them here.
Is there an echo here?
We ‘ve not seen many leaks or rumors about what to expect from Amazon this year, but it’s not uncommon – unlike most flagship smartphones these days, the new Echo devices appear without much warning.
Amazon makes many things you may have forgotten about, including smart speakers, smart displays, security cameras, tablets, erasers, wireless headphones and much more. All of these product types may receive updates next week.
Then there are services – not only the largest online retail activity, but also the prime video service, the cloud portals for music and photos and the audiobook service that can be heard on other applications and websites.
Everything Amazon announces can keep Alexa in one form or another. The Alexa app for Android and iOS has recently undergone a major update, making it even easier to interact with Amazon’s Digital Assistant.
