Three of the world's most accomplished pole vaulters will compete in their own backyard

In the absence of high level sporting events organized in the world due to coronavirus, three of the most accomplished pole vaulters in the world – Mondo Duplantis, Sam Kendricks and Renaud Lavillenie – will meet Sunday in the Ultimate Garden Clash from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. THIS.
The event will be broadcast on world athletics ยป Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels.

The Swedish Duplantis is the world record holder, the American Kendricks is multiple world champion and the French Lavillenie won gold at the 2012 Olympic Games.

They will not really be in the same place but will rather participate from France, Mississippi and Louisiana, weather permitting.

“I am delighted to be able to compete again, especially against Sam and Renaud,” Duplantis told worldathletics.org. “Since we don’t know what other competitions we will all have together, we will definitely enjoy it and have a good time with it.”

“In addition, winning is crucial because I don’t like losing too much against them.”

“It is a great opportunity to see the best jumpers in a new competition format showing their love for their sport with competition when most other sports are off,” added Lavillenie.

“And because we’re all at home, we have no excuse to miss this international home competition.”

Like other sports, athletics has been hit hard by the virus. The Diamond League meetings have been canceled and the pinnacle of pole vaulting, the Summer Olympics, have been reported July and August on almost identical dates in Tokyo in 2021.
