The X Games cancel the July event while the UFC plans 3 fights for May

Ads come at a time when much of the world of sport had to stop or adapt during Coronavirus pandemic. Leagues like the NFL have grown to a virtual format for their projects, while leagues like the NBA and MLB have suspended their seasons.

The X Games were scheduled to take place July 17-19 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but the organizers canceled due to the pandemic.

“The safety of athletes, staff and spectators is our top priority, and we will continue to closely monitor the situation for all X Games events,” said an X Games tweet on Friday.

Meanwhile, the UFC organize three combat night events at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida on May 9, 13 and 16. The fights will take place “with only essential personnel,” said the league.

“I can’t wait to fight big fights for the fans,” said UFC president Dana White.

In March, the UFC had to postpone three fights because of Covid-19 and the social distancing guidelines. Back then, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended people not to go to events with more than 10 people. Before that, The UFC was one of the only American sports leagues to host an event in March.
