Sooooo, Ubisoft just closed its E3 2017 press conference and it’s now confirmed the previous leak of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was legit! Right from the start of the show, Shigeru Miyamoto himself appeared in the public holding none other than a bullet bill shaped canon blaster. He was then joined on stage by Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot, also equipped with a blast toy, both joyfully confirming the cross-over between the two major franchises of both companies.
Slated to release exclusively on Nintendo Switch this August 29th, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is an exploration game with tactical combats and RPG elements. It’s story is unfolding in the heart of the Mushroom Kingdom, where the dumb-but-beloved Rabbids have mysteriously been transported into. Here are all the new infos shared by Ubisoft and Nintendo.
This is the story of an unexpected encounter between the most iconic video game hero of all time, Mario, and the irreverent, chaotic & cute Rabbids. The Mushroom Kingdom has been torn apart by a mysterious vortex, transporting the Rabbids into the once-peaceful area, splintering this beloved land. To bring order back to the Kingdom, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi team up with Rabbids heroes in a journey through four different worlds.
Characters & Combats
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will feature 8 playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Yoshi. Each will have its own set of statistics (Offense/Defense/Mobility), two weapons, two techniques and a special move ability. Each of your team members will have access to a skill tree, which will give you the ability to unlock skills and upgrades as you progress through the game.
Once on the battlefield, combats are mastered by following simple rules: look around, see where your enemies are hiding and try to find the best tactical points to take them out. You’ll control a team of 3 characters during your exploration of the Mushroom Kingdom, so it’s up to you to decide which team member would be the most suited to each situation.
First World – The Ancient Gardens
Ubisoft also unveiled the first ever world we’ll discover in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the Ancient Gardens. As its name implies, it is a mystical place full of foliage, creatures, gorgeous water and funky Rabbidish structures. The Garden used to be a peaceful, tranquil place, where Goombas would roam the lands in grumpy bliss. Now though, the pesky Rabbids have stormed the place and painted the area in their specific brand of chaos. It’s now up to you and your squad to take the power back!
