Square Enix teases at a possible Seiken Densetsu 5
Being one of the most iconic JRPG series of all time, the Seiken Densetsu franchise has been on-hold for ten years now. For those who’ve forgotten, the last main instalment in the saga was Dawn of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 4) on PS2. And today, hope comes back for a possible Seiken Densetsu 5, thanks to the release of Seiken Densetsu Collection on Switch.
In an interview given to Game Watch, Square Enix Producer Masaru Oyamada said he hoped for new games in the series, including Seiken Densetsu 5. And what seems to be the main factor that would decide whether his team goes on this path or not is how much it’s awaited. In other words, if Seiken Densetsu Collection sales are high enough, it would be a confirmation that players want a fifth episode.
Regarding the prospect for the future, Oyamada-san previously said that you ‘want to make Seiken Densetsu 5 at some time’. How are you thinking about that right now?
Let’s see, this time it’s pretty much a commemorative-like game where you could play three Seiken Densetsu titles, but I hope people could anticipate the new games, including Seiken Densetsu 5. However first of all, there’s also the thing… that I’d be in trouble if Seiken Densetsu Collection didn’t sell much though (wry laugh).
