Hollow Knight’s Switch port will take longer than expected

Seems like we’ll have to wait a little more for Team Cherry‘s Metroidvania adventure “Hollow Knight” to see the day on Switch. Back in January, the team announced that the Wii U version of the game was getting cancelled in favour of a port on Nintendo’s new system, which was aimed to hit the eShop “not too long after the platform’s launch“.

Sadly, Reddit user 2blankpages spotted on the game’s Steam community forums that Matt Griff – PR at Team Cherry – estimated the port to be 6 to 12 months away. The post is dated from April, so that leaves us to expect Hollow Knight on Switch for at least October.

Fans in the Reddit thread commented that developers reported a month ago to have problems impacting the PC and Switch versions that could be due to policy, and not the actual port. Which would explain why they’re so uncertain on the release target. Apparently, PC version faced optimization issues, possibly causing problem for the Switch as well. Guess we’ll just have to endure the waiting…
