Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now out since Friday, and it’s already a great start for this last instalment in the racing franchise. A Nintendo press release confirmed that retailers have sold over 459,000 copies of the game for combined packaged and digital sales in the US on its first day on the market, making Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the “fastest-selling game in the long-running Mario Kart series“.
Last time a Mario Kart game has sold so fast in the US was in 2008, with Mario Kart Wii (433,900 copies on its first day). Nintendo also shared that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe currently has an attach rate of 45%, meaning that almost half of the Nintendo Switch owners have bought a copy of the game in the US. And we’re not even a week post release.
