Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now out in stores and most of us are already enjoying all the new features of this “definitive” version on Nintendo Switch. And if we’re not taking that much risk saying it’s one of the best Mario Kart experiences we’ve had since launch of the franchise, the game is not exempt of little oddities. Like the restriction to use dual Joy-Con in wireless play mode, or this new one: the inability to create private rooms with friends online if we have more than 100 friends.
If you’re in that case and try to create a private session, a message will pop up saying “You don’t have any friends”. And if you delete friends until you’re at 99 of them, the issue vanishes. Yep, that’s a bug alright. Apparently, this problem is rooted in the bits of code remaining from the Wii U version (i.e. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a revamped Wii U version on Switch), where the system itself had a limit of 100 friends.
Since accounts with more than 100 friends is rather rare in the players’ community, Nintendo hasn’t picked up yet the bug. But now that news website are massively relaying the issue, we can expect it to be fixed soon with an upcoming update.
