Nintendo hasn’t hosted a traditional press conference in a few years now, since E3 2012 to be precise. The successful Nintendo Direct have become a standard in their strategy, offering a more versatile communication format that avoids any problem related to direct and even allows the company to share different announcements for reach region. So it’s not that much of a surprise if the “old style” press conference is also ditched for E3 2017.
In conclusion of Nintendo’s 2016 financial results briefing, President Tatsumi Kimishima briefly addressed shareholders and journalists on the upcoming event, confirming that Nintendo “will not be hosting a large-scale press conference for institutional investors, analysts and the media. Nintendo of America will present further information on our plans at a later date.“
As usual, Nintendo’s plans for this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo will likely include the Treehouse Live event, in which they can showcase direct gameplay footage of their upcoming games.
