Monster Hunter Stories gold and silver amiibo offered as competition prizes in Japan
Ok, when is the next plane for Tokyo?
As most players who’ve ever given a try to the series might now, Capcom’s Monster Hunter games are undoubtedly one of the most popular video game franchises in Japan. Each new episode is welcomed with millions of sales, hours of live gameplay footage on Capcom TV and dozens of cross-franchises DLC content. And the spin-off title Monster Hunter Stories meets the same success since its release on Nintendo 3DS back in October.
Knowing that, it’s not really a surprise to see it in the program of the Monster Hunter Summit 2017. But if Monster Hunter series fans are already on the verge of importing MH Stories since we haven’t heard news on a release in the west, what they’re about to see is gonna make them rush straight to Japan.
The MH Summit 2017 is hosting the Monster Hunter Championship 2017, running from late April to May throughout seven locations in the country. Players will compete on two types of challenges (time attacks & team battle) in the two latest MH titles (Double Cross & Stories), and the two big winners will have a special prize: 1st place will win a Golden Monster Hunter Stories Rider amiibo; 2nd place a Silver Monster Hunter Stories Rider amiibo.
That’s right, these amiibo are unique, crafted for the championship! Nothing has been said on a potential future release, but something tells us that these beauties are going to be very, very hard to find. Take a look at the video below to see them in details.
Oh and if you’re one of the lucky few who live in Japan, you can go check out the event and play two upcoming Capcom titles: The Great Ace Attorney 2 for 3DS, and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for Switch. Special Monster Hunter themed item packs will also be distributed throughout the event.
Monster Hunter Stories hasn’t been confirmed for a release outside Japan. We’ll keep you updated on a possible announcement.
