A little more than a month before its release on the Switch, Nintendo Japan continues the communication around Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and its additional content compared to the Wii U version. Because let’s face it, a lot of us are going to wonder why we should buy this Switch version when we’ve already spent hours clearing all the tournaments and unlocking all the characters/vehicles in the original game. Today, the company updated the official Japanese website of the upcoming port, and there’s a lot of new videos to discover:
Two new items are added to the 21 other items in the original game: Boo (races) and Feather (battle mode). We already know the feather from Super Mario Kart (SNES) and it’s awesome to see it back after 25 years!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adds 6 new racers to the roster, now at 42 total characters: Inkling Boy/Girl, King Boo, Dry Bones, Bowser Jr. and Metal Mario Gold (unlocked by beating all cups in 200cc).
New Battle Modes
The Classic Battle Mode comes back in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with new modes + 8 arenas (ex. Urchin Underpass from Splatoon): Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, Shine Thief, Coin Runner, Renegade Roundup.
